Vodafone Foundation Youth Week 2010 grants have now closed

The Vodafone NZ Foundation and the Alcohol Advisory Council of NZ (ALAC) have donated towards small grants to help communities and young people hold Youth Week events and
projects.
Some funding is reserved for events focused on reducing alcohol harm.

All monies have been allocated. We had 88 applications requesting a total of $43063.50. We are pleased to announce we were able to fund 73 events and projects across the whole nation.

Grant criteria
The points below will be used to decide what projects are funded.

1. Young people are involved in planning, running and evaluating the activity.
2. Project is clearly related to the Youth Week 2010's theme of connecting
whānau and young people
3. You must clearly answer all the questions on the application.
4. Some funding is reserved for events and activities focused on reducing alcohol harm.
5. Grant winners will be selected to ensure a spread of projects across the country and diversity of activities

If you get given a grant you will need to:
1. Make sure the project takes place during Youth Week
2. List the project on the Youth Week website event calender
3. Show how funds were spent
4. Plan events that are smoke and drugfree
5. Include Youth Week logo on promotional material
6. Send NZAAHD photos and details of your event to be printed in our Youth Week promotional booklet?
7. Send NZAAHD a summary (short report) of your event and how it went?(NZAAHD will provide the report form for you to fill out)

What kind of project can I do?

Get creative! You could do anything! A workshop, forum, concert, exhibition, sport, art or music activity, whatever you can think of that relates to the theme of connecting
whānau and young people.

How do I make it about connecting
whānau and young people
?
Youth Week 2010 is about strengthening the relationships between
whānau and young people. Your project could link to this theme by getting young people and their whānau together and spending time together. Here are some event ideas.

How do I make my event focus on reducing alcohol harm?
Here are some event ideas to help you out.

How much money can I get?
The maximum for each application is $500.

Who can apply?
A group or an individual young person can apply. Youth services, schools and others can apply but must show how young people are involved in developing and coordinating the activity.

How do I apply?
Use the
grant application form. Make sure your application is received at the Youth Week office by 7 April 2010. For help, you can email .

What are the key dates?
Grants close 7 April 2010. You will know the result of your application by 18 April 2010.

How will successful grants be chosen?
A group of young people and youth advocates from our Youth Steering Group from Te Ora Hou Northland will select successful grant applicants based on how well the application meets the selection criteria and answers the questions on the application form.

When will I know if I get the money?
The Youth Week office will contact you by 13 April 2010 if you are successful. How do I get the money? The Youth Week team will send a cheque. If you don't have a
bank account we will find a way to link you with an organisation that can receive the money for you.

Where does the money come from?
New Zealand Aotearoa Adolescent Health and Development (NZAAHD) coordinates Youth Week and this funding. Youth Week acknowledges the support of the Vodafone NZ Foundation and ALAC in making these grants available. A big thanks to them!
