Youth Week 2010 sponsors and supporters
Published by Youth WeekThe Vodafone New Zealand Foundation is the charitable arm of the Vodafone New Zealand business and was established in November 2002.The Foundation manages two core programmes on an annual basis: theGrant Making Programme and the World of Difference Programme. The aim of both programmes is to encourage positive and healthy outcomes for New Zealanders aged 12 to 24.
Youth Week is a key event in the Family Planning calendar and we are delighted to be a sponsor again in 2010. The theme of Rangatahi Ora: Whānau Ora – connecting young people with their families - reflects our belief that parents and caregivers have a lead role in talking with their young people about relationships and sexuality. Our youth website, www.theword.org.nz can help both parents and young people with the answers to those tricky questions. And, every year, there are around 180,000 visits to our clinics for help with issues such as contraception and testing for STIs – and for all of those under 22 – the visit is free.
The Families Commission provides a voice for New Zealand families and whānau. We speak out for all families to promote a better understanding of family issues and needs among government agencies and the wider community.
Te Ora Hou Northland Inc. is a community based organisation that began in 1981 and is affiliated to a national body Te Ora Hou Aotearoa Inc. that has branches throughout New Zealand.
Te Ora Hou Northland exists for the benefit of young people. We are committed to providing focused, practical and strategic actions to issues facing young people and their families through innovative projects and the formation of meaningful relationships. Each project has arisen and evolved in direct response to the identified needs of young people in our communities. We aim to partner with whanau and other supports to grow confident, responsible and courageous young people.
Services include: Youth Mentoring, Teenage Parenting, Social Work, Early Childcare and Education, Student Attendance and Graffiti Removal.
NZAAHD would like to thank Te Ora Hou Northland for hosting the 2010 Youth Week Youth Steering Group.
Smoking Not Our Future is Smokefree’s direct-to-youth campaign which uses testimonials from high-profile music, sports and media personalities to deliver a variety of honest and relevant smokefree messages. We are proud to once again be involved with Youth Week.
Sometimes it can all get a bit too _much. We can help you get to a _better place
We all have to deal with a lot of different stuff every day. Some important stuff, some not so important, but sometimes it can all get a bit too much. Everyone has days like this, but when that feeling hangs around too long it’s easy to spiral down into depression. One in seven young Kiwis experience serious depression, so don’t worry if you think you’re the only one feeling the way you do – heaps of people feel the same way and with help, they get through it. Lots of people don’t know where to begin or who to talk to when they’re having a tough time.
Hear real stories from musicians, celebrities and everyday people sharing their own personal experiences with depression. What’s more, if you’ve got a question or just want to get something off your chest you can text or email The Lowdown Team for confidential advice and support.
