Hokianga Community Photo Exhibition

Taking place on Mon 24th May 2010
About this Event: As part of this year's Youth Week, Hauora Hokianga and the Mental Health Foundation will be bringing a photo voice exhibition to Hokianga. Photo Voice is an opportunity to give a voice to those that often go unheard, through the medium of photography. The theme of this year's exhibition, in line with the 2010 Youth Week theme, is "rangatahi ora = whanau ora". When young people are connected to their whanau, they are well, and their whanau will be well. Hokianga youth will each be given a disposable camera in order to take photos around whanau connection. The aim is that this will contribute positively to their identity, self worth and self esteem. This voicing of youth experience also creates dialogue around community strengths and concerns which will encourage exhibition attendees to also reflect on the relationships they have with young people.
