Youth Gangsters
We look on tv and all we see these days are teens waving either blue or red coloured rags, and what's our immediate reaction? "What a bunch of useless teens wasting their lives". All we see is the outside picture that the media display, homeless and uneducated teens. But if we stop and think hard about it, those teens are no more different than we are. I am a pacific island female from south auckland who is in her final year in high school. My reaction to those youth gangsters is that they turn away from school and the law because no one pays enough attention to them. Like i said, if you think hard about it, the majority of the teenagers involved in gangs are either having trouble at home like some of us, which leads to them not be noticed so much at home. It also leads to a lack of intrest in education because what is happening at home, effects their behaviour when going to school the next day. These teens are no different to us, but they choose to live a life of crime and coloured rags because they live in the shadow of darkness. You think of the last time someone you love or respected paid no attention to you for any hardwork you'd done. Think of the disappointment you felt and sadness. And then what, you try all you can to be seen again? These are what some of our youth are facing in today's society. But i honestly dont believe culture or skin colour has any effect on that. Im Samoan but I am well educated and not into any violence.
So think hard next time you see youth gangsters walking by on on tv, is it all just a plan to be seen because when they were good no one paid any attention to them?
